Amy really likes the Matt & Kim, and they were playing right down the street from Tiny and Annie, so i thought maybe we could all go. Then i found out how much tickets were. And then it sold out. Drat.
My friend Doug to the rescue! Not only was he able to hook us up with tickets, but we got to watch the show from the VIP section. Amy may never watch a show from the floor again.
And what a show it was. Non-stop energy. I think Kim spent more time dancing (and twerking) on her drums than she did playing them. There were those among us, especially the drummer, who suspected the music may not have been as "live" as it could have been - and it didn't matter! Did they drop balloons on the crowd? I believe so. Was there a crazy light show? You betcha.
Seriously, i think i'm getting tired just thinking about how much jumping about they did. Energy energy energy.
Both Annie and Amy saw boobs a-flashin' in the crowd. Tiny and i did not. Which is totally unfair.
Also, i suspect we substantially raised the average age...
I don't talk much. I may dance a bit. This is an incomplete list of some shows I've seen.

Fishbone and Primus at the Riviera
I remember being pretty excited about this show. Both Fishbone and Primus were pretty big deals in our little world at the time. Maybe this was a little past their prime as far as we were concerned, but still...
It seems likely maybe Johno and I had more friends there, and even more likely that Jen brought a friend or two of hers along as well (perhaps that Michelle M girl?).
Fishbone had an informal 'big booty contest' up on stage during their set. It was embarrassing even then. But thank grod at least i didn't see my little sister up there.
I do not remember seeing the Hard Corps, but I do have an ep by them, so maybe this is where I heard of them. I do seem to recall buying a bootleg t-shirt outside the riv on the way out.

Public Image Ltd. at the Riviera
Went to this show by myself. I think i was staying at Jeff's house for the night. In my head, it was at the Vic, but apparently it was at the Riv... This was the first show i saw that approached punk rock. I was blown away. I also seem to remember thinking it was awfully warm at a show wearing a leather jacket.
Lime Spiders opened.
I remember finding a bootleg tape of this show at some record-collector's thing in a hotel in Champaign. Did that tape break? Do i still have it anyway?
